Mission Statement:

To produce Classic Theatre each summer in the Community of Half Moon Bay, California that is accessible, entertaining, challenging, educational and enlightening for both audiences and players alike.

Vision Statement:
By aligning ourselves with local arts organizations, businesses, trusts, and other entities in the San Francisco Bay Area Peninsula and Coast, we strive to be responsive to opportunities and challenges, both artistic and economic, that will produce theatre with a deep commitment to education, outreach and audience involvement. We also seek to celebrate diversity and to enrich and enliven the existing cultural and artistic atmosphere of our community and world.


Robert Pickett (Artistic Director)

Starting with plays presented in the family garage when he was a youngster, Robert has been involved with theatre in all its many facets for most of his life. He has directed, acted, designed lights, costumes, sets and taught acting. He received his MFA in Directing from the University of Utah, his BA in Directing from the University of California at Santa Barbara and his AA in Acting from Santa Barbara City College. He has studied with members of the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre of Great Britain. He co-founded the Napa Valley Shakespeare Festival where he directed *Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream,The Tempest and Twelfth Night*. As an actor he has performed in *The Tempest, The Taming of the Shrew, Macbeth, As You Like It and Hamlet* and Napa and Sonoma Counties with scenes from Shakespeare. As a resident of Half Moon Bay, Robert is proud to be a part of the artistic and cultural environment here on the coast.


Lee Ellis (Co-Founder, Associate Producer and Board Secretary/Treasurer)

Lee began her love of the Bard while earning her B.A. degree in English at Westminster College in western Pennsylvania. After graduation, she discovered the joy of teaching Shakespeare to her middle school and high school students. While raising a family, she occasionally returned to the classroom as a substitute teacher. She earned a CPM and went on to a career in Project Management and coaching in a large public agency in the Bay Area. There she used diverse organizational and communication skills toward the building of large public projects.

Lee is a founding member of Half Moon Bay Shakespeare Company and resides in Half Moon Bay, California. She is involved in various community organizations including college scholarships for local women students. Lee has served as Associate Producer for all 5 seasons. Lee currently manages the Company’s day to day business.  She enjoys working with her colleagues on the Company’s growth and development as well as the upcoming production of Macbeth. Additionally, the Company and local volunteers are actively maintaining and improving John L. Carter Park which they have adopted under the City of Half Moon Bay Adopt-A-Park Program. Lee loves spending time with her kids and 6 grandkids who reside in both the Bay Area and Boulder, Colorado.
